What is the pm2.5
PM2.5 refers to solid particles and liquid droplets in ambient air with an aerodynamic diameter of 2.5 microns or less. Principle and method of measuring PM2.5 concentration
PM2.5 particles are invisible to the human eye. To know its concentration in the air, we need to use sensors to achieve it. At present, the principles and methods for measuring the concentration of PM2.5 are as follows:
1, infrared and turbidity method: infrared due to lack of light intensity, can only be measured by the turbidity method. The so-called turbidimetry is one side of the light, the other side of the reception. The more cloudy the air, the more energy the light loses, which determines the current air opacity. This method cannot accurately measure PM2.5, even if the luminescent and receiving parts are covered by electrostatic adsorbed dust, which will directly lead to inaccurate measurements. Sensors made in this way can only be measured qualitatively because the values will drift and cannot be measured quantitatively. More importantly, this method cannot distinguish the particle size, so the sensor will not perform well.
2.Grameric method: through a sampler with certain cutting characteristics, a quantitative volume of air is extracted at a constant speed, so that PM2.5 and PM10 in the ambient air are trapped on the filter membrane with known mass. The concentration of PM2.5 and PM10 is calculated according to the difference of mass and sampling quantity of the membrane before and after filter sampling. It should be noted that the volume of the denominator in the unit of particle measurement, ug/m3, should be the volume under standard conditions (0℃, 101.3kPa), and the volume under the measured temperature and pressure is converted into a volume under standard conditions.
